I would like to start off by saying that on Sunday October 12th was one of the better days at the field for me and a couple other guys.

So our Friendly Web Admin brings out this JUNK airplane. Ok Let me start off by saying this is what makes this club fun. There were at least 5 guys that worked on this airplane. We started working on it around Noon. Well needless to say we found problem after problem with this piece. Anyways around 5:30pm we finally get this bird in the air. Below is just a short list that we found wrong with the airplane.

Starts off, just trying to get the motor to fire. Went through 3 starters and 5 batteries.
Then we found that we had the wrong fuel tubing in it.
Then Not enough elevator
Then not enough runway
Then the throttle would stick
Then the Reciever crapped out
Then the Radio crapped out
FINALLY we got her in the air. Much to my suprize it actually flew pretty decent.

The Day was just a blast. Roger,Steve C,Tim D,Anthony, and Myself would like to thank everybody. That was a fun time. Let's do it again with anything. Heli or Airplane. Just to see if we can get it to fly is just to much fun.

J.C. lets not forget the MOUNT screws on the firewall were too small. they pulled out of the firewall during a test run and stuck the engine at wide open throttle. I got lucky enough to see the problem and push the moter mount back enough to idle the engine... gotta put a emergy shut off on that beast.
Also there was the broken wing strut that let the right wing half flex up .. causing it to look a little cock eyed.
Sometimes these old airplanes can be a gold mine. What a feeling when she finally got airborne. broken wing strut and all. it did actually fly pretty well once we got the engine dialed in a little better.

what goes up must come down (hopefully in 1 peice)

To follow up on this fun day. Steve had brought the plane out again on Thurs. We got her in the air. And she flamed out. Much to my suprise it fell like a rock!!! HAHA. Well we fixed that problem, and Steve was flying it. Well he was ready to land and boy she sank right to the ground breaking the landing gear strut. Anyways that airplane flys really good.

yup it does fly well...... while the engine is on then it has the glide path of a rock.
Scotty was generous enough to donate a set of landing gear for it so as soon as i get them from him the beast will be flyable again. From what scotty was saying the new gear is a bit flexible so this should help prevent it from breaking again (i hope) we will see.

Well as much as I hate to say it. Stevey did it again. Brought out the best. This is where he went wrong. (Among other things) He let ROGER Fly the Beast. Although I didn't fair to far off from Roger, as I put in the Nieuport. The airplane was just underpowered. The Beast however was not. Had one of the elevator links come loose which caused all sorts of funkey stuff. Anyways it really didn't hurt the airplane all that much. Just a wingtip and where the wing actually attaches to the fusealage. So until next time hope the Beast and Nieuport are all better. HAHA
